G. Mirch Masala, Pakistani & Indian Restaurant Micro-view
The other day I stopped into a brand new restaurant that is just a few miles from home. In fact it is so new that there were tradespeople there adjusting wiring and working while we were dining. I love ethnic foods of all kinds and G. Mirch Masala didn’t disappoint.
If I were to pick a phrase for this restaurant I would say that everything is served “family style”. The reason I say this is that the dishes that were set before us were presented in a wonderful homey way and not like you would see in a fine dining restaurant. I liked the food and the atmosphere and staff were very friendly.
I can’t wait to stop again soon.
We started our meal out with Papadum a lentil cracker or flat-bread that was light and savory with a nice sauce for dipping. We even had seconds as it was very delicious.
Then we ordered an onion flat-bread that had a layer of bread, then onions, and then the bread. Baked to perfection and cut into quarters I made this at home soon after we ate here as I really loved the composition.
For entrees I ordered the marinated, grilled fish and my dining partner ordered Karahi Gosht, basically lamb cooked in a savory tomato sauce. Both dishes were bursting with flavor and the textures were really nice. The fish in had a wonderful crust on the outside but wasn’t overcooked.
Finally for dessert we had a mango shake with yogurt that was very thick and yummy. The flavor had a sour note from the yogurt that balanced out well with the mango.
I love supporting local business and G. Mirch Masala is very local to me. If you love trying out new types of food or you love Pakistani and Indian food I would say that you need to check the new kid on the block out. I wish them great success and hopefully they will continue on the great path that they have started so far.
